In recent years, agriculture has changed, paying much more attention to soil conservation and precision, combining smart processing with reduced environmental impact. As a manufacturer of agricultural machinery, Celli is committed to find solutions in response to these new standards: for this reason, Celli developed Tiger 250 Strip Till, thought to meet the needs of farmers in New Zealand.

It is a rotary tiller where both the rotor and the roller have been „split” so as to till the soil in some areas, and not in others. In this way it is possible to follow the principles of strip tillage, one of the working methods linked to the concept of minimum soil preparation.

Strip-tillage is having great success for corn and soybean crops, with evidence on the first and second harvests. This solution brings many advantages:

  1. The preparation of the seed bed is carried out on only 60% of the total surface: this allows for savings in working hours (about 30/40% less compared to traditional processing) and in fuel (with a saving of approximately 60%);
  2. The crop residues, which remain on the surface, bring a beneficial effect to the soil, increasing the organic substance and microbiological life of the soil but also counteracting any erosion;
  3. CO2 emissions into the atmosphere are reduced compared to traditional processing;
  4. The soil, when tilled this way, absorbs water and nutrients better while the being able to warm up faster and the roots can expand in depth. It is the ideal environment for the prompt germination of the seed.

The use of Tiger 250 Strip Till is part of a philosophy that Celli has been pursuing for years, aware that modern agriculture must meet certain environmental and soil conservation standards.
