The rotary tiller concept
ROTARY TILLERS have been designed for hoeing the soil, similar to a mechanical weeding or direct tillage (no prior ploughing required). The rotor can be supplied with curved (“C”) or square (“L”) blades, and the side blades can be inwards or outwards. All rotary tillers are supplied (as standard) with side skids for working depth adjustment.
The “FRANGOR” concept
FRANGOR cultivators are designed to deliver a fine seed-bed preparation. They are made with the same structure of the rotary tillers (fixed or folding), where spikes or straight tines rotors are fitted instead of the blades rotors; Frangors are also equipped with special tailgates, which improve soil levelling. Furthermore Frangors are always supplied with rear roller, which improve the final levelling and also generate a light compaction on top soil layer.
Frangors gearbox are equipped with gear sets which increase rotor speed (usually higher than 300 rpm).
Technical specifications
ROTARY TILLERS |
FRANGORS |
| High rigidity of the structure. One of the most important technical specification of all CELLI implements is the rigidity and robustness, which keep their shape, thus allowing a perfect support for transmission components. All CELLI rotary tillers and Frangors are made of a double shielded box frame made of thick steels sheets, reinforced with a front square bar, welded on the 3 point hitch and on the side transmission box. |
|
| Rotary tillers rear tailgates have been designed to allow an adequate soil levelling. CELLI tailgates are made of very thick steel sheets, shaped into form, hinged to the top. Cue factors are: shape, rigidity and weight. Rear tailgate adjustment CELLI offers 3 different type of adjustment (not available on all models, please check specifications on each model): |
Frangor rear tailgates are made of 2 pieces of articulated flat steel plates, hinged in the middle, thus to create a large volume where the soil stays longer, thus improving its refinement. The angle of inclination of the tailgate can be easily adjusted depending on the refinement required and the levelling desired.

Side transmission with gearsGearboxes designed, manufactured and guaranteed by CELLI |
|
| Swinging lower arms. They allow the machine to follow the soil contour, easing the by-pass of obstacles, thus minimising risks of damages. | |
High quality blades rotorsManufactured with very thick pipes onto which high quality flanges are welded (Fe 510 or wear-less steel OX 812). In the production line automatic welding machines optimise welding operations and assure good specifications: hardness of the materials and their resistance to shocks are perfectly balanced. |
High quality spikes rotorsManufactured with very thick pipes onto which are welded high quality flanges (straight knives rotors) or forged lug-holders (spike rotors). CELLI can say that its automatic welding machines optimise welding operations and assure good specifications: hardness of the material and its resistance to shocks are perfectly balanced. Two Frangor rotors are available: a spikes and a straight tines rotor. The spikes rotor is very versatile, and it effectively works in dry-hard soil as well as in wet soil. It doesn’t fear stones and usually it absorbs less power than straight tines rotor. Straight tines rotor is recommended when maximum soil refinement is required. It performs better in dry soil and it absorb more power than spikes rotor. |
Reduced power absorptionThe special design of blades and Frangor rotors, the helicoidal timing of respective tools, the design of the tools themselves, all these technical features contribute to reduce power absorption and vibrations, allowing a better performance of the Celli machines. Oil bath thrust sealing system for a perfect protection of rotor bearings. These thrust steel seals are commonly used in industrial application (ie. the crawler track of earth moving equipment) and are dust and water proof. Rotor bearings of soil tillage implements with horizontal axle are critical components which must bear severe loads in very difficult working conditions. CELLI always protects rotor bearings with a special oil bath thrust sealing which is derived from industrial applications. These seals are made of 2 steel discs which rotate one against the other, thus generating a vacuum which doesn’t allow even the smallest spec of dust or water to get in contact with the rotor bearings. This system has proved its effectiveness with thousands of units working in the wettest conditions, such as rice fields. HIGH CLEARANCE “HC” conceptThe Frangor and Rotary tillers Tiger series have been specifically designed to have as much space as possible (“High Clearance”) between the frame and the working components (blades, knives or spikes). This feature minimise the possibility of jamming even in heavy soils and also when crop residues are abundant. Furthermore faster working speed and higher working depth can be achieved, thus increasing the yield per hour. |

Versatility |
|
Versatility of application: Rotary Tillers. The standard characteristic of CELLI machines is their versatility. They can easily be used both in wet/heavy soil as well as in dry/hard soil. Their adjustments and their technical specifications allow quick adaptability to changing working conditions. |
Versatility of application: FRANGORSFrangor models equipped with spikes rotors can easily work both in dry hard soil and in wet heavy soil, with no risk of jamming. They are resistant to stones and they also offer a good soil crumbling whilst requiring low horse power. |
2 layers tillageCELLI Frangors and Rotary Tillers can be coupled with ASSO front Ripper, which opens the ground up to a maximum depth of 45 cm. (See page 148) FlexibilityRotary Tillers can be easily transformed into FRANGOR units by replacing the rotor and fitting a rear roller. However please note that Frangor units are also supplied with special articulated rear tailgates. Oil cooling kit (optional)Most CELLI units can be equipped with an oil cooling kit, which allows to work in difficult conditions for long non-stop period, without any risk for the transmission gears in the central gearbox. The oil filter supplied with the cooling kit, preserves the oil quality and viscosity, thus extending bearings and gears life. Rapidity of commissioning and adjustmentSpecial adjustment kits are available for all the Frangors models, as for example the hydraulic adjustment for the tailgates and the rear rollers; within a few second the working conditions of the machines can be adjusted from the tractor cab and without any waste of time. |

The Frangor version is ideal for seedbed preparation, when a thorough refinement is required. It differs from the rotary hoe version in the following features:
- Rotorshaft fitted with either spikes or straight tines, in order to get an accurate finishing of the soil.
- The rotating speed of the tools is higher than in rotary hoes.
- Articulated swinging rear flaps, adjustable in several different working positions.

Transmission components are the key issue! Like in all other Celli products, all transmission components are entirely designed, manufactured and guaranteed by Celli. Appropriate product design improves reliability and performance! Is it possible to guarantee long operating life of an implement and high performance at the same time, reducing the horsepower requirement as well? Celli has experienced that this is feasible. “Pioneer” is a cultivation system, not just a stand-alone product! Specific conversion kits enable to change in a very simple way the rotary hoe into a Frangor unit for seedbed preparation. In the same simple way, it is possible to convert the cultivation implement into a combined compact unit for soil preparation and sowing in one pass. An efficient internal quality control is a guarantee at 360°! Celli is quality certified under the standard ISO 9001 since nearly 10 years and has always thought that quality is fundamental as well as the continuous development of its products, in order to meet customers requirements.
